Nascream Man

What on earth is up with the ice cream men these days?!

It is almost June, the ice cream man has been driving by once or twice a day all month, and I have yet to chase him down!

Either I have gotten really old....or the ice cream men these days drive too dang fast!

This past weekend being a long weekend, Matt and I made it our mission to be home during the hours of the normal drive by and to actually catch him this time! We took all the necessary steps to ensure our victory too!
  • We strategically placed money in all the necessary places (ie stairs, entry table, and in all our pants and pajama pockets) for a quick grab.

  • We kept all computers and televisions on mute or a very low level so that we could not get confused about which sound was ice cream man music.

  • We kept our socks off so that we could make speedy trips down the stairs without slipping and breaking our backs.

  • We put on our game faces!

The first couple of times, I admit, we were a little ill prepared. We had forgotten to silence our cell phones as to not get the sound of a text message confused with the ice cream music.

But the next couple of times....nothing could have stopped that man.

On more than 3 occasions this Memorial Day weekend, Matt and I were seen running down the middle of the road; barefooted with one dollar bills spilling out of our pajama pockets; screaming at the ice cream man to stop. But did he? NO!

There is no possible way in the world this man could not hear us or see us running after his truck! There is also no possible way that this man could have ever sold a single ice cream driving as fast as he does! What gives?!

If I ever see that man, I'm going to give him a piece of my mind. Until then, we will become regular customers at Bahama Bucks Shaved Ice up the road. Tucker won't mind that one bit either. They give him snowballs in the drive thru!

Back from Europe!

Matt and I returned from our second trip to Europe last week. This time we went to Germany and Austria to see some history, sing Sound of Music songs, and find pretzels bigger than our heads. Luckily we did all 3...plus a little more!

This trip definitely wasn't as magical as our honeymoon in Italy due to it being a totally different atmosphere, but it still made for a lovely 1st anniversary trip.
I know a lot of people are perfectly happy with never leaving the states and have no desire to see other countries, but I've got to say that those people are totally missing out. There is a side of me that I never see except for when I'm put into a place where everything is completely different, old, and in a totally foreign language. I love this side of myself! It's an daring side and I find my becoming so much more resourceful and so much better at rolling with the punches to get what we need accomplished. Of course it helps that Matt lived in Europe as a teenager and is familiar with some things, but we still have lots of fun together trying to figure out what people are saying to us and where we are supposed to go.

I'm already anticipating our next trip back!

The story of Matt & Tiffany

Once there was a handsome guy named Matt and a crazy girl named Tiffany.
They lived far apart, but one lovely February morning, Tiffany happened upon Matt's singles' ward for a reason no one was sure.
In Sunday school Matt sat in the back cracking jokes while Tiffany in the front listening intently to the lesson...and a few of his funny jokes.
When things got especially loud on that back row, Tiffany eventually turned around only to find herself meeting eyes with the handsome Matt and on the receiving end of a smile that can still give her butterflies today.
Soon the handsome Matt found ways of meeting up with the crazy Tiffany even though they were far apart and their friendship began to be inseparable. Before they knew it, they were married and sitting together on the back rows in church cracking those jokes together!

Thus began the life of Matt & Tiffany.
